The Jumpin’Jammers team has been an established competition and demonstration team
since 1989. The team operates as a non-profit 501c3 organization. Each member of
the team must be a member of United States Amateur Jump Rope (USAJR) and Amateur
Athletic Union (AAU). USAJR is the official national organization for the sport
of jump rope in the United States while AAU supports the sport of jump rope by including
jump rope in the Jr. Olympic games. FISAC-IRSF (International Rope Skipping Federation)
is the world organization. Jumpers currently come from seven Grapevine-Colleyville
Independent School District Campuses as well as surrounding communities. Membership
is open to anyone who successfully completes the tryout process and is selected
to be on the team.
The Jumpin’ Jammers compete at the USAJR Regional and National
Tournaments, the AAU Regional and National Tournaments and bi-annually at the World
Trials and World Championships. The team is also a demonstration team to support
the American Heart Association’s (AHA) Jump Rope for Heart Program. Jumpers have
had the opportunity to participate in AHA demonstrations at schools in the Dallas/
Fort Worth metropolitan area. Attending competitions and demonstrations has given
many jumpers the opportunity to travel in Texas and to Ohio, Oklahoma, Louisiana,
Iowa, Virginia, Colorado, Florida, Idaho, Tennessee, Michigan and Canada.
The jumpers’
hard work and teamwork have made them quite popular in the DFW Metroplex. The team
has appeared on Good Day Texas on KDFW Channel 4, WFAA Channel 8 Morning News, Channel
5 News, Kidd Kraddick In The Mornings and have also participated in the Ft. Worth
Parade of Lights, and the Grapevine and Euless Christmas Parades. Articles about
the team have been published in the local papers including the Star Telegram, Dallas
Morning News, Colleyville Courier and Grapevine Sun. Public demonstrations include
performances at the University of Oklahoma Basketball Games, Radio Disney events,
Six Flags, Hurricane Harbor, Arbor Days, Main Street Days, Bedford YMCA, Community
Festivals, Retirement Homes, Grapevine-Colleyville Independent School District Convocation,
Grapevine High School and Colleyville Heritage High School Basketball Games and
